October 23, 2026 | Aquinas Academy Athletics Aquinas Academy is disappointed to announce that its varsity boys soccer team will no longer be participating in the 2026 WPIAL Class A Boys Soccer Playoffs. The Crusaders' scheduled first-round matchup against Trinity Christian on Saturday, October 24, at Pine-Richland High School has been canceled. The decision follows a ruling by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) that retroactively enforced a forfeiture of Aquinas Academy's match played on Tuesday, October 20. As a result, the Crusaders no longer qualify for the WPIAL postseason. School administration spent Friday pursuing an appeal of the decision, but those efforts were unsuccessful. The news was shared with the team Friday afternoon, bringing a difficult and disappointing conclusion to a season in which the Crusaders worked hard to earn their place in the playoffs. We are especially disappointed for our student-athletes, particularly our seniors, who dedicated so much time and effort to this season. These young men earned the opportunity to compete in the postseason, and losing that opportunity under these circumstances is difficult for everyone involved. Aquinas Academy remains proud of its boys soccer program and the dedication, determination, and commitment demonstrated by its players throughout the season. While this is certainly not how we envisioned the season ending, our support for these young men remains unchanged. We thank our players and families for everything they have contributed to Aquinas Soccer. Once a Crusader, always a Crusader. Aquinas Academy Athletics
