GIBSONIA, PA – Both the Aquinas Academy boys and girls varsity soccer teams are headed to the WPIAL Class A playoffs, as the Crusaders look to continue their seasons with opening-round matchups this weekend and Monday. The boys earned the No. 7 seed in the Class A bracket and will face Trinity Christian on Saturday, October 24, at 3:00 PM at Pine-Richland High School. The Crusaders enter the postseason with momentum after a strong finish to the regular season, including a 5-1 victory over Bishop Canevin and a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Eden Christian Academy that secured their playoff berth. Aquinas also defeated Freedom twice during the regular season. The girls earned the No. 12 seed and will take on No. 5 Bentworth on Monday, October 26, at 8:00 PM at Peters Township Middle School. The Lady Crusaders battled through a challenging regular season to secure their place in the postseason. Despite dealing with injuries and a limited roster, Aquinas remained competitive in Section 3 and earned another opportunity to compete for a WPIAL championship. The girls have received contributions from players throughout the roster, including leading scorer Gabby Keverline, sophomore Mary Grace Dolan, and freshman Adeline Phelps. Senior Lucy Keverline has helped anchor the defense, while goalkeepers Bella Rossi and Aurora Predis have contributed in net. Having both varsity soccer programs qualify for the WPIAL playoffs is an exciting accomplishment for Aquinas Academy and a reflection of the work put in by the student-athletes and coaching staffs throughout the season.
