Aquinas Academy senior Jonah Burchill will continue his academic and athletic career at Christendom College, where he has committed to compete in both basketball and baseball. Burchill concludes his time at Aquinas as a multi-sport student-athlete who made a significant impact on both the basketball court and baseball field. As a senior, Burchill averaged nearly 16 points per game for the Crusaders, helping lead Aquinas to the WPIAL Playoffs. He was also instrumental in one of the most successful postseason runs in Aquinas boys basketball history a season ago, when the Crusaders advanced to the PIAA Class 1A Elite Eight. That run included the first PIAA playoff victory in program history. In the state playoff opener against Erie First Christian, Aquinas erased a 14-point deficit in the final minutes. Burchill connected on a three-pointer with 31 seconds remaining to give the Crusaders a 79-78 lead as Aquinas completed the dramatic comeback victory. Burchill has also been a key member of the Aquinas baseball program and will have the opportunity to continue competing in both sports at the collegiate level. His accomplishments extend beyond athletics. Burchill was selected as one of Christendom College's 2026 Padre Pio Full-Tuition Scholarship winners, an honor awarded through the college's competitive scholarship program. At Christendom, Burchill will have the opportunity to continue his education at a Catholic college while competing as a two-sport collegiate student-athlete. His commitment is another example of an Aquinas student-athlete taking the next step to collegiate athletics while carrying with him the academic, athletic, and Catholic formation at the heart of the Aquinas Academy experience.
